As a charity we need your support to help us provide compassionate listening services to all users of Edinburgh Sheriff Court and are looking for volunteer listeners to work with us. Are you:
· caring and compassionate?
· non-judgemental?
· a good listener?
· willing to talk to people experiencing stress and anxiety
Can you:
· make a regular commitment to two 4 hour shifts each month?
· work as part of a small team in the court environment?

The recruitment process involves an interview and two days’ mandatory training. Interviews will be held on either Monday 17 February in the morning or Monday 24 February in the afternoon. The two days' training are scheduled to be held on Monday 24 March and on Friday 28 March.
In addition, we require two references. There is an induction session at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and all volunteer listeners have a three month probation period.
All volunteer listeners need to have membership of the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) Scheme which is managed by Disclosure Scotland. Applications are submitted on behalf of volunteer listeners by The Listening Service and are free of charge

Other ways to volunteer with us: if the role of volunteer listener is not for you, but you would still like to volunteer, we from time to time need help with administration, fundraising, and publicity. Please keep an eye out on the Volunteer Scotland website where we advertise these opportunities.
