As a charity we need your support to help us provide compassionate listening services to all users of Edinburgh Sheriff Court and are looking for volunteer listeners to work with us. Are you:
· caring and compassionate?
· non-judgemental?
· a good listener?
· willing to talk to people experiencing stress and anxiety
Can you:
· make a regular commitment to two 4 hour shifts each month?
· work as part of a small team in the court environment?
We usually recruit in Spring and Autumn and if you are interested in working with us click the box above for the Volunteer Listener role profile descriptor or click here to download it.
Please get in touch at info@listeningserviceedinburgh.org to find out about the recruitment timetable. Applications can be made online click here or download the application form click here, complete and send to info@listeningserviceedinburgh.org
The recruitment process involves an interview and 2 days mandatory training. In addition, we require 2 references. There is an induction session at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and all volunteer listeners have a 3 month probation.
All volunteer listeners need to have membership of the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) Scheme which is managed by Disclosure Scotland. Applications are submitted on behalf of volunteer listeners by The Listening Service and are free of charge
If you have any queries please contact us - info@listeningserviceedinburgh.org
Other ways to volunteer with us: if the role of volunteer listener is not for you, but you would still like to volunteer, we from time to time need help with administration, fundraising, and publicity. Please keep an eye out on the Volunteer Scotland website where we advertise these opportunities.
