Donation from The Society of High Constables

The Society of High Constables of Edinburgh can trace its history back to 1611 when the Privy Council of James VI instructed the Magistrates of Edinburgh to appoint constables to keep order in the city. Today the Society provides a ceremonial role for the Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh and, through the Charitable Trust, remains relevant to the communities of Edinburgh by providing financial support to local small charities which would otherwise struggle.
